Overview

This case study explores the swift installation of our 14R Bundle in Yenicag Mahallesi following a devastating earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6, 2023. The earthquake caused severe damage to the region's infrastructure, resulting in a water shortage and posing a significant risk to the affected population. The majority of the population sought refuge in displacement camps provided by various organizations for relief efforts. However, some of these camps reached full capacity, leading earthquake survivors to establish micro-displacement camps in open areas independently, but they faced significant disadvantages due to limited resources. To address this urgent need, Deploy collaborated with two well-trained volunteers to install the tank on a site where 30 families will benefit. Remarkably, the tank was fully installed in just one day, making it ready for use the following day. In this case, our 14R Bundle showcases its effectiveness in emergency situations, where it can be employed to ensure the provision of water during disasters.

Application

In this case, the 14R Bundle played a vital role during the challenging post-disaster period by supplying both potable and non-potable water. With the provision of potable water, Deploy's 14R Bundle was able to connect to various types of water filters. Through collaboration with Lifestraw, who generously donated the Lifestraw Max model, safe drinking water became accessible to the residents. The combined efforts of these technologies ensured access to clean drinking water, significantly reducing the risk of waterborne diseases and promoting the well-being of the community in Yenicag Mahallesi.

Installation Challenges

1. The tank installation started during night and finished the next day.

2. This tank was installed by 2 Deploy volunteers.
